Start with a usable boat
Port tasks require an owned, usable boat supported by the Sailing system. If you have none, the port taskmaster directs you to buy a raft from the shipwright. Owning a task slot alone does not bypass the boat requirement.
Inspect a port task board or talk to the taskmaster to see available work. The board presents supported routes that the server can handle. Check the pickup port, destination, required Sailing level and cargo amount before accepting a courier task.
Your simultaneous task limit grows with Sailing: one slot initially, two at level 7, three at 28, four at 56 and five at 84. Each individual task still has its own level requirement. You cannot accept the same task twice, and bounty tasks also prevent overlapping requests for the same bounty parts.
Pick up the right cargo
Courier deliveries track the cargo belonging to your active task. Go to its pickup port and use the courier ledger. If you have several eligible tasks, select the intended delivery rather than assuming every crate serves the same route.
A carried courier crate occupies the weapon slot and needs both the weapon and shield slots empty. Unequip both before trying to take cargo. The ledger will ask you to deposit or load cargo you already carry before taking another crate.
Boat storage and task cargo transfers are part of the delivery process. Keep track of what is carried, loaded and already delivered; possessing a visually similar item does not establish delivery credit. At the destination, use the port's delivery interaction to hand in the active-task cargo.
Finish and claim
A courier task is complete only after its required cargo has been delivered. The taskmaster's Claim-rewards action checks your active task and delivery progress, then awards coins and Sailing experience.
Leave room for rewards. If payment cannot fit, delivery progress remains recorded and you can return to the taskmaster after making space. Read the confirmation message to distinguish a completed delivery from a successfully paid reward. Account experience modifiers can affect received XP.
Bounty work follows a different loop: collect the requested parts from the named sea target and return them to a port taskmaster. Do not apply courier ledger instructions to bounty parts.
Cancel deliberately
Only tasks marked cancellable offer cancellation. Read the confirmation: cancelling removes outstanding task cargo from your owned containers, so it is not a way to keep spare delivery crates.
For a task that will not advance, check the active route, correct port, free hands, boat availability and delivered amount first. These requirements are more useful than repeatedly clicking a ledger with an occupied weapon slot. Browse the activity and travel directory when planning the rest of your trip.
